'the LUCKY tape'
Dedicated to @jackgar @bmoneyism Lucky the Dog and everyone else we've lost. I started this tape back in august with my dude Jack & B Money on my mind. Having them there at points in my life through ups downs bads goods and greats; is an energy I carry with me. Jack was there from the beginning. TLK days. Sitting in my room smoking while i played the same drum loop or him just rapping for the love. B Money was my first and only DJ when i decided to be rapper (haha) but he was also my record expert. and I slept on his couch, listening to him in the morning mixing or pulling out some crazy sample that i had no idea about. These two (who also share the same birthday) kept me confident in this music shit. They kept me sane and positive musically and spiritually. And as for the title, one time for our first and only family dog LUCKY. He was getting crazy old but he led the life of the most spoiled white dog in a black family. He was around when I was at mom's figuring out the MP and vibing to records with me. The reason I named it 'the LUCKY tape' was for a few reasons. One, Lucky was put down on Jack & Money's birthday. Two, I was lucky to have such dope influences and friends. Third, because my original title was "JACK $" and LUCKY sounded better. I was supposed to drop this on sept 3rd. However I went to burning man and got lost in the desert (great story) so instead of a whole roll out, I think its time to drop this. This is probably my most personal tape. Really feeling those kats in the room with me and nodding to the sounds smoking a joint. I partly did it for them. I imessaged them joints, wondering if theyre getting em. Im corny but whatever. This is for them and everyone still here. I love them and I love yall. So heres a piece of my heart. Musically this shit is all over the place. theres like 3 beats in one song sometimes, theres 4 seconds of joint and the jam switches. i was really in my 'lets get super weird' bag. Either was thanks for reading this and thanks for listening to it. And one more thank you to my brother @thisonephoto for taking this dope fucking pic of LUCKY when he was pup, chillen in his favorite spot.
